Jemal has worked for the UNICEF Country Office in Turkmenistan and she has specialised in the right to an effective remedy (ICCPR Article 2), and the historical and current geopolitical state of the Central Asian region. She holds a BA in Philology from the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute, and an MA in Theory and Practice of Human Rights from the University of Essex.

Craig joined IQd at its inception in 2004, working in the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat to develop institutional capacity for preventive diplomacy. He has worked with governments, inter-governmental organisations and for UNDP to develop approaches and inter-governmental mechanisms for the prevention of violent conflict. He has specialised in negotiation and mediation processes, international law, and in the relationship of human rights protection, good governance and conflict management. He holds a Master of Law and Diplomacy from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

Sally is an expert on questions of cultural diversity and social integration. She has been a Research Fellow in Peace Studies at the University of Bradford, a project manager for the Aga Khan Foundation on the social inclusion of Muslims in Western Europe, and Legal Officer for the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM). She is the principal author of a forthcoming IQd handbook on the management of cultural diversity and holds an MA (with distinction) from the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, University of London.

Zdenka is an expert in international human rights law, protection of minorities, linguistic, educational and cultural rights, and political participation. She has served as an independent consultant to governments and inter-governmental organisations in peace processes and constitutional law drafting. In the field of conflict prevention, she was Senior Legal Adviser to the OSCE HCNM and Legal Adviser in the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Zdenka has published in the field of minority rights, is author of the IQd handbook on linguistic and religious diversity, and holds a Master of Law from the Faculty of Law of the Masaryk University.

John is Professor of International Human Rights Law and Director of the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex. He started IQd in 2004, was Coordinator until 2007, and is a frequent consultant advising governments, inter-governmental and non-governmental organisations on matters of peace and security, conflict prevention and resolution, diversity management, and the protection of human rights including minorities. He has been Senior Legal Advisor and subsequently Director of the Office of the OSCE HCNM, Visiting Assistant Professor of International Law at The Fletcher School, Fellow at the Kennedy School of Government and a Human Rights Officer at UNHCHR. He holds degrees in Political Studies and Law, has lectured at a number of universities and professional institutions around the world and has been widely published.

Murtaza specialises in situations and inter-governmental organisations in the Muslim world and South Asia, the international protection of religious minorities and the compatibility of international human rights law with Islamic law. He has worked for the European Court of Human Rights, Minority Rights Group International, the European Human Rights Advocacy Centre and for human rights and children's rights NGOs in Pakistan. He is a member of the International Human Rights Committee of the Law Society of England and Wales and holds an LLM in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex.
